Don't fret my pets...I'm back!

Sorry all...had to take a break this weekend which turned into a loooonnnng weekend. I wish I had a good reason but really I'm just lazy.

No reason to rehash the whole weekend but of course the Jags demise must be mentioned. I especially enjoyed this loss since I was in a house full of people rooting for the Jags. Even before the 2-minute warning they were already making excuses why they wouldn't win. I'll sum it up for you...your QB turned into a turnover machine and Rashean Mathis (arguably one of the better corners in the league) really didn't play up to par. I came across this photo in my search for Jacksonville news worth sharing....can this be considered animal cruelty??

  • The drama continues for Rich Rodriguez and WVU...wow, this divorce is turning uglier than Britney and K-Fed's. Rodriguez claims he was "trying to take that high road" and knew that there would "be some emotions involved" but say WVU peeps are spreading lines about him and tarnishing his good name. Whatever pal, not sure who is more wacked out....Rich or WVU fans.

  • This just in....most kids think clowns are scary....why is this new information? Pennywise has been around since the 80's.

  • As a Gators fan I am a big fan of Joakim Noah (except for that unfortunate celebration dance). His passion for UF and his competitiveness were second to none during his time in G-ville but of course, the Gators won back to back national championships. Apparently, playing on a team that sucks is a bit of a problem for Jo in Chicago. Benched by your teammates?? That's one I haven't heard before...

Because I actually have a job that pays me I have to cut this short. More to come, stay tuned....

Is it Saturday yet??

The anticipation of the Steelers/Jags game is almost too much to handle for me right now. Probably because I have the unfortunate luck to live in Jacksonville. Let's get to some news so I don't have to think about that right now.

  • Congrats to WVU interim head coach Bill Stewart on his whooping of Stoops and his Sooners. Excuse me, HEAD coach Bill Stewart. That didn't take long...apparently his hiring will be announced from Phoenix later today.

  • A long year of even more obnoxious Presidential campaigning is upon us. The Iowa caucus is today. Not sure why a state with historically low voter turn out is so pivotal in the race but that's the way it is. I, for one, have absolutely no idea who I will cast my vote for this November yet. If any of you are in the same boat I highly recommend The Undecided Voter's Guide to the Next President by Mark Halperin. I'm about halfway through now and have eliminated at least two candidates. (And Hillary doesn't count since I'm skipping her chapter.) Okay, no more politics I promise!
  • Another Ben spotting from http://www.bigbennews.com/ . I need to borrow their tracking device the next time I head home. Ben took the court at Mellon Arena with the Harlem Globetrotters last week.

  • Celebrity Edition of The Apprentice starts tonight....who are some of these people??? Wait...is that Big Pussy?

  • This guy really stirred some shit up in Pittsburgh. Apparently black 'burghers can't afford Steelers games and are highly offended by the "Anglo" music selections at Heinz Field.

Big Game Thursday for Pittsburgh

I better see A LOT of this tonight!

We have Steelers at Rams, Pitt playing Duke and the Pens at Boston all happening tonight. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I will only be able to catch Pitt on ESPN and the Steelers on America's favorite channel, the NFL Network, so my remote control should not implode from the channel surfing.

The Steelers have to win tonight...have to. Steven Jackson has returned to his form over the last few weeks (good for my fantasy team, bad for the Steelers) and our run defense has been a bit suspect as of late. And I think we can all agree that he is a better back than Freddy T. Hopefully two consecutive losses and the division hanging in the balance will motivate these guys to lock it up tonight. Plus it would really suck for my sister-in-law to have to return to work with Bulger's pops next week. So what if Marc's from the 'burgh...he went to WVU for God's sake!

By the way, enjoying every moment of the train wreck that is the West Virginia football program right now. From the death threats to the kicker, to the bolting of Rodriguez (what a punk!), to the mayor of Rich's hometown taking down "Home of Rich Rodriguez" signs. You stay classy West Virginia!

The Pens have Conklin making his first start in goal tonight after the injury bug has run rampant. Hopefully the Pens can get one in the win column after getting shutout by the Rangers on Tuesday. Plus, it's always nice to beat a Boston team.

Speaking of beating a Boston team, kudos the DEEEEEtroit Pistons for coming up with a win against the almighty Celts last night. I watched quite a bit of that game and Boston gave their last possesion of the game to Paul Pierce who really was not on his game all night long. The Pistons hung with them all game but really didn't take control until the 4th quarter. A lot of big names in the game but I'm not sure there is a more underrated defender or outside shooter in the league than Tayshaun Prince.

In other news, here is the obligatory Tim Tebow shout out: Tim was named AP Player of the Year yesterday. Seriously, he could probably run for governer in Florida and win right now.

Some Thursday newslinks for you:

  • My husband Ben stopped by the WDVE Xmas party to sing about balls. Of course the Mayor (A.K.A. The biggest jock sniffer in the 'burgh) managed to get a picture with Benny.

Noooooooo FIDO!

I'm off for the day. I have to swing by church to light a quick candle for my boys tonight. Have a good one!
